Top Class Music 2023 – VCAA – Melbourne Recital Centre

About the concert:
Top Class Music features incredible young musicians who received very high grades for their VCE music performance examinations in 2022. Compered by Assessors and the VCAA’s Curriculum Manager for the Performing Arts, the concerts present a range of instruments, interpretations and styles by soloists and groups. This is an opportunity to enjoy a brilliant and eclectic concert series suitable for all ages.

Students are to make their own way to and from the CBD, meeting Mrs Clare Budd under the clocks at Flinders Street Station at 10am. Students will then do a walking tour of the music venues in this precinct and the Melbourne University Conservatory of Music, before spending time in the Australian Music Vault gallery at the Victorian Arts Centre. We will then go to the Melbourne Recital Centre (Elisabeth Murdoch Hall) to attend the Top Class Music concert. Students will be dismissed from the Melbourne Recital Centre at 3:45pm, when the concert concludes, which is a short walk or tram ride from Flinders Street Station. At the concert, students will experience a variety of classical and contemporary solo and group performances. Students must wear full academic uniform and bring a small bag (NOT their school bag) with a drink bottle, umbrella, and snacks/lunch.
