Camps and Pathways Week

Camps and Pathways Week is one of the most anticipated events in the Nossal High School calendar, a dedicated week each year that takes learning beyond the classroom and into the wider world. Designed to complement and enrich the academic program, this week offers students across all year levels a unique blend of outdoor experiences, career exploration, vocational training, and personal development activities.

At the heart of Camps and Pathways Week is a simple but powerful belief: that the skills, insights, and connections students need to thrive in their future careers and lives are not always found in a textbook. They are found in real conversations with industry professionals, in hands-on experiences that build practical ability, and in challenges that push students to discover what they are truly capable of.

A Week Tailored to Every Year Level

Camps and Pathways Week is carefully structured to ensure that every year level engages with content that is relevant and meaningful to where they are in their journey at Nossal.

Year 9 and Year 12 students attend camp, with each program designed to reflect the distinct needs and opportunities of those year levels. For Year 9 students, camp is an early opportunity to build community, develop resilience, and discover new strengths in an outdoor setting. For Year 12 students, it is a chance to step away from the demands of VCE, deepen connections with their cohort, and carry those bonds into the final stretch of their school journey.

Year 10 and Year 11 students engage in a rich and purposeful careers and pathways program, immersing themselves in industry excursions, guest speaker presentations, vocational training, workplace readiness activities, and career exploration experiences. This program is designed to help students at a pivotal stage of their secondary education think deliberately and confidently about the directions they wish to pursue.

Careers at the Centre

Career exploration is a core focus of the week. Students have the opportunity to engage with professionals from a wide range of industries, hear firsthand accounts of diverse career journeys, and participate in activities that bring potential pathways to life. From industry excursions and guest speaker presentations to mock interviews and workplace readiness training, students are supported to think deeply and deliberately about their futures, not just what they want to do, but who they want to become.

Personal Growth and Connection

Beyond careers, the week also places a strong emphasis on personal growth, resilience, and community.
